Raising butterflies

I love how she likens babies and young children to our ‘research and development’ team and the adults to ‘production and marketing’. It’s a great talk – take 18 minutes to watch it now!

the weekend?

So I’m not going to lie… we had a rough night last night.

Yesterday was possibly the most stimulating day of Mika’s life so far, beginning with driving her papá to work. Yes, we ALL managed to have breakfast, shower, dress and get in the car by 8:30am.  It felt great. She then got into her sling and got introduced to Ivan’s work and coffee shop guy and then we drove to our ‘baby and you’ course that the Parent Centre puts on for first time parents.  Apart from being a chance to coo over the other babies in the class, the 2 hours spent sitting and listening to an elderly lady warn us that when our babies tell us they’re hungry they might ACTUALLY be overtired, felt like a bit of a waste of time.  I spent the two hours praying that Mika wouldn’t wake up. And most of the other babies were crying and feeding and pooping and then by the time we got home at about 1pm, Mika decided she’d had enough and proceeded to stay awake for the next 9 hours.  NINE HOURS?  I thought she was going to die.  I googled ‘what happens when my baby stays awake for 9 hours?’.  Parents going a little crazy, that’s what.

So I won’t continue because I don’t really wanna moan about our little bug who is currently sleeping *very* peacefully.

But I will say that she loves Ted talks and today we watched 2 incredible new Ted talks that I would highly recommend.

This one is only ten minutes. Watch it now!

And this one is funny. Morgan Spurlock is a funny guy. He’s great.

I came across this image of Ben Franklin’s daily schedule the other day and I love it.

I found it here.

I hope everyone has a glorious weekend. We hope to make it to our favourite French cafe for a coffee and crosswords. We also are expecting a few visitors on Sunday and no doubt some photography sessions to mark the end of Mika’s 3rd week! Eek time flies x

Before you do anything else, block out the next 20 minutes of your life and watch this.  (And because she likes to be credited for this sorta thing – thanks Mum for showing me this!)
